Lavishness in Simplicity

Song to accompany: Yogyakarta by Kla Project

This is a story about the city I live in these days, one of special region in Indonesia people used to called it Yogyakarta or Jogjakarta to simplify the name. There's a long history from kingdom era to colonial era which made this place special along with their loyalty to king and nasionalism to the country. I may not talk about the history here cause it will make this a long read, but I'm going to show you what makes me captivated to live in this city.
Night attraction at Yogyakarta's South Square; light tandem bicycle
This city maybe hot at noon moreover in the summer but it's pretty chill at night and nice weather followed another season night and day. With the nice blue skies, fresh air almost everyday that you won't get from another cities in Indonesia, this place seems perfect everday and one thing I'm not mention yet, our life always accompanied by splendid Merapi, the most active volcano in Indonesia. In the other hand it may be a challenge when Merapi wakes up, but this mount served people's life by it crops, livestock and quarries.
1. View of Mt. Merapi covered by the clouds at noon 2-4. Locals transportation since the old times 4. The old and young free time along the streetside
Since the locals still love the king and loyal to the kingdom, their live in peace without any scandal or crappy news on locals media quite different from the capital city. People here live in average simplicity and get along so well with low disparity gap between the rich and poor. Food price is very cheap whether it's on street foods or local restaurant, the taste? has it own affection. Locals are very warm with the strangers, nice smile welcome you everywhere. The soundness is on the first place among the other region, you can see old people still at work.
 1. One of Abdi Dalem sing a literature in Javanese 2. Symbol of Kraton and sign at the front gate of kraton 3. A couple of Abdi Dalem with barefoot walking on the sands garden delivering food to the royal family 4. One of 63 banyan trees around the palace, being trimmed once every year beforeProphet Muhammad Maulud day and Gazebo on kraton garden
 1. Brown rice and traditional side dishes 2. Grand daughter of Kopi Joss Pioneer, Lek Man 3. The famous Kopi Joss Lekman
Then we talk about the never ending culture stories, like another Indonesian culture this city has its own trademark for batik, gudeg and festivals all these things bring us back to well-known tradition since kingdom era and mostly it has something to do with their spiritual belief. All of those stuffs makes a new excitement to my life everyday, with a new thing to be tasted, to feels, and to discovers. At the same time I always feels like a traveler here not only an ordinary students in boring routine. I'm pretty sure like newcomer before me, they always said, "When you started to live here, it's getting hard everyday to leave it."
Ullen Sentalu, one of private museum in Kaliurang, stored many personal belongings from King's relatives and I must say it has the best historical museum management
